Heritage, Nature & Nurture

“Welcome to the Rana Punja Foundation - Preserving the Rajput-Bhil heritage of Bhomat & empowering its future

Bhomat (also known as Bhumat; Hindi: भोमट or भूमट) is a mountainous and forested region of southern Rajasthan, covering the tehsils of Kotra, Jhadol, and Kherwara in Udaipur district. Historically referred to during British rule as the “Hilly Tracts of Mewar”, Bhomat is renowned for its tribal traditions, natural beauty, and cultural importance in Mewar’s history.

The Rana Punja Foundation works to preserve the legacy of Rana Punja Solanki, the celebrated ally of Maharana Pratap in the Battle of Haldighati (1576), while promoting Rajput–Bhil unity and protecting Bhomat’s unique heritage.

Our mission is to conserve Bhomat’s ecology, protect its forests and biodiversity, and empower local communities through education, cultural preservation, and social welfare initiatives. By celebrating Bhomat’s past and supporting its future, the Foundation seeks to keep alive the enduring spirit of resilience, unity, and cultural pride that defines this remarkable region

Preserve Kshatriya-Adivasi Heritage of Bhomat

Rana Punja Heritage & Welfare Foundation is dedicated to honoring the legacy of Rana Punja Solanki, the legendary Solanki Rajput Chief of Panarwa, who stood shoulder to shoulder with Maharana Pratap in the epic Battle of Haldighati (1576). Fondly called "Bhilu Rana", Rana Punja Solanki was not only a staunch loyalist of the Maharana, but also a symbol of strategic brilliance, torchbearer of Rajput-Bhil Unity and leadership in the Bhomat region (the Hilly forests of Udaipur).

Established by his descendants, the Trust aims to preserve his rich legacy while transforming Panarwa into a hub of historical scholarship, rural upliftment, and ecological awareness.

Join us in our mission to nurture heritage and inspire meaningful change in Bhomat.

Our Vision

To revive the historical, cultural, and ecological greatness of Panarwa and the Bhomat region by promoting research, social development, and heritage education inspired by the life of Rana Punja Solanki.
